4th of July

We have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to post our pictures from July 4th until now. We hope you all had a fun and safe 4th.

We had plans to take the boat out to watch the fireworks at Jefferson Park. It took me some time to find a life jacket that would fit Ethan. They just don't make them for infants even if they say it is for an infant. Most of them are 0-50 lbs. Well, to me that is not necessarily an infant. Madison weighs about 32lbs. I did find one that was 0-30 which I found out is the smallest that they make. Of course it looked as if Ethan would slip right out of it. I did buy that one to try and than I tried a different store. I found a neoprene one that was 0-30lbs and it looked smaller than the other life jacket that I bought first...made out of the typical life jacket material. Madison has a neoprene one and they do cost more but are so worth it...not so rough on your skin and more comfortable to wear. So, I came home with them both to try. And...the verdict was that the neoprene one fit him...the other will have to be returned. He was so cute in it...mostly all life jacket though.

We took the boat out after we ate over at our neighbors...must have been about 7:15pm. We weren't sure how long it would take to get the boat in the water. We weren't sure if people already had their boats in the water or if we would have a long wait. Well, we ended up getting right in. The best part...no problems finding a spot to park to watch the fireworks..you need a boat launch permit to park in the parking lot and we have an annual pass. We anchored the boat next to Jefferson Park..pretty much as close as possible. We wanted to be right under the fireworks. We snacked and listened to the band that was playing at the park. It was so relaxing and fun.

Okay so this is getting long but it was a crazy night and I have to share. Anyway, there were 3 boats that were near us. Only one of them was anchored. The people in the middle boat were holding onto the first boat that was anchored with their hands. And the last boat was tied to the middle boat. Seriously....like the one anchor could hold all 3 boats. They were pretty nice boats too...packed with people. Well Kevin mentioned a few times that those 3 boats were getting closer. I had thought so but I wasn't sure. After a while we heard them say they were going to move to some other spot. So the first boat took out the anchor and moved away. The other 2 boats were still tied together and trying to untie. Well, the wind had picked up so it was not as calm as it had been and they kept getting closer and closer. Kevin had to go to the front of our boat and hold their boats so they wouldn't hit ours. They didn't even look like they were going to do anything about hitting us. Anyway, they got untied and went to the left of our boat and took off. Well, the first boat turned around and went to the right of us. I thought they looked too close to our rope for our anchor but Kevin didn't say anything. So I assumed it must be okay since he didn't say anything. Next thing I know Kevin is yelling STOP STOP...HEY STOP. So I started yelling STOP. They weren't even looking at us. Well, when the driver heard us yelling he gunned it and slammed the back corner of his boat into the back corner of ours. He got all hooked up in our ropes and Kevin was trying to hold his boat away from ours. Why in the world would you hit the gas when someone is yelling stop??? Well, Madison started freaking out. She was crying so hard and say: "I want Milo, I need Milo, Milo is going to poop in his kennel...." and so on. I am not sure why she instantly thought of Milo. Well, I asked her if she wanted me to put brother down and hold her and she said "yes, please...yes, please." So, I did. To try and make this not much longer......the other boat had some big light and they used it to try and get unhooked. We almost called the coast guard over. The driver finally got down in the water up to his neck and after 15 minutes got the anchor unstuck and out of the water. Kevin almost told him to cut it and pay him $100. Kevin did shine that guys light on our boat to see if there was any damage. We did have to call the guy back over once he got unstuck to get his info in case we found damage we couldn't see the next day since it was so dark. They almost ruined our night. The fireworks for some reason took forever to start so we didn't miss them. We were right in front and right under them. It was awesome!!!

After we got home we went and hung out with our neighbors.
