Last night was Girls Night Out. This month we decided to go to the Fire Art Studio in Appleton. The Fire is a pottery painting, glass fusing, and mosaic studio.
We met at 5:40pm with snacks in hand and drove downtown to the studio. There were nine of us that went...6 regulars, 2 newcomer neighbors, and 1 guest that was in town. I decided to do mosaic on a double picture frame. I have never done any of this before and really wanted to do the glass fusing. Since the studio closed at 8pm I thought I better do something a little less complicated. Three other girls also did mosaic..one a sign with her address, one a dove, and the other a Halloween swirl art thing (not sure but Halloween is her favorite holiday). Everyone else painted pottery..several different types of bowls and a plate. Most of us finished but some of us didn't and were going to go finish today. I finished mine and since we had a party of more than 5 they will grout the piece for me and for the others that did mosaic as well..otherwise they give you the grout to take home. All the other pieces have to be fired so none of us can pick anything up until Thursday. Also, since there was more than 5 of us...we received a free plate. So, we decided to make it a neighborhood or community plate. We all wrote our last names and also the names of the girls that couldn't make it and the studio is going to decorate it for us. We decided we will pass the plate around or whoever has it holds the next BBQ or something...we haven't figure it all out yet.
Anyway, it was a great time and we all want to go back...especially to try the glass fusing and do more of the other too. We hardly ate any of our snacks. We were there long after they closed...
After the studio, we headed to Bazil's Pub...yeah that was interesting being pregnant. We were there for hours..some drinking alcoholic beverages, some soda, and some hot chocolate/coffee drinks. It was pretty quiet considering it was a Friday night and we were downtown...but we didn't mind as we just wanted to hang out and talk some. I don't think I got home until 1am.
What a fun night...I think next month...we are just going to do dinner at a restaurant.
