Appointment with Plastic Surgeon

On Monday, August 13th, I took Madison to Oshkosh to finally see the plastic surgeon. He basically told me things that I had already been told. He did tell me that since the dermatofibroma is rare in children and bleeds that it must be removed. He said that it will most likely grow larger and it will just bleed more. From what I have told him, Madison has had the dermatofibroma since birth. He said he couldn't remove it in an office visit...mainly because he felt that she would be incredibly afraid of doctors for quite some time. He said I wouldn't be able to restrain her and that if she moved it would create a larger scar. So, he said that he wanted to obtain pre-approval from my insurance and once that is done an appointment will be made to have the dermatofibroma removed. She will have to be put under but not all the way. This way she won't really know what is going on once the procedure has begun. It will probably only take about 5 minutes. There is a 10% chance it isn't benign...we want that 100% chance that it is benign...no question about it...we want it removed. So, basically to sum it up I paid a $30 copay to have them take pictures and Madison got a ton of stickers that ended up all over my car. However, they reminded me of stickers I loved when I was young .......................SCRATCH 'N SNIFF.................they are the BEST!!!
